Creating Master Images

Step 2

Installing the content - (the VitalBookTM Library folder)

Downloading the content

The appropriate content needed will vary by geography. Please download the correct content below for your users and environment. When registering, users will be able to select specific reference titles for their machine. If they choose a title that is not included (i.e. a US user choosing a Canadian dictionary) their selection will be downloaded for them the first time they open it.

For users in the United States:

This includes all files for the VitalSourceTM Library, and the US Presidential Inaugural speeches, and the US Supreme Court cases. It also includes the New Oxford American Dictionary, and the Concise and Student editions of the Encyclopedia Britannica.

For users in Canada:

This includes all files for the VitalSourceTM Library, the Oxford English Dictionary, and the Oxford Concise Encyclopedia.

Installing the content

Once downloaded, you will need to create the appropriate destination path for the content on your master image. The content will need to be placed in a special location, insuring that all users of that image will be able to access the content.

For Windows users, create the following path:
\Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents\Shared Books\VitalSourceTM Bookshelf\VitalBookTM Library

For Macintosh users, create the following path:
/Users/Shared/Books/VitalSourceTM Bookshelf/VitalBookTM Library

IMPORTANT: Please be sure that these paths are set up exactly as shown above including spaces and upper/lower case. It is the responsibility of the creator of the image to confirm all privileges are correctly set for these directory paths so that all users on the machine can access them. Creating these folders as any user other than the administrator will prevent Bookshelf from correctly functioning on your images.

Open the content you downloaded above, and copy the contents of the folder you just opened (including all sub-folders and files) into the VitalBookTM Library folder at the end of the path that you just created.

NOTE: Be sure you copy the CONTENTS of the archive into the "VitalBook Library" folder that you created (rather than just dragging the folder over from the archive). This way, you can be sure permissions are correctly set. Also, be sure not to create another VitalBookTM Library folder inside of the one in the path above, or the software will not be able to access the content.

The VitalBookTM Library folder is a download of over 1 GB, so if you would rather have VitalSourceTM send you the content on a DVD, please contact support at the address given in Step 4.
